In order to meet this development need, it is imperative to design a brake rigging device that can provide enough and reliable braking capacity, as well as be installable on various types of 25t axle load freight cars. By analyzing the arrangement of brake rigging devices adopted here locally and abroad, this paper determines an installation layout scheme of brake rigging device that can be installed on various types of fright cars; the paper also proposes the model numbers of its suitable spare parts and the specific parameters after conducting analysis on the various spare parts.

The design analysis of this paper shows that the most likely layout plan of brake rigging device on all the 25t axle load freight cars is to adopt the most versatile method by installing the air brake device at the end of the car similar to the way adopted by C76A, and the braking force will be transmitted by leverage to the brake rigging device of the bogies under the car. The specific arrangement will be one set of air brake device at both ends for each car, each end has a brake cylinder which is connected by air pipe to the air brake device; the braking force from the brake cylinder will be transmitted by leverage to the brake rigging device of the bogies. At the same time, the design adopts the 305 mm × 254 mm spinning seal typed brake cylinder as the most suitable cylinder. The bogie brake rigging device should adopt the coordinated application of 407G high friction composite brake shoes with L-B model brake beam, while the brake shoe adjuster should be model ST2-250 and be installed horizontally. In order to improve the braking performance, additional auxiliary devices should be installed, such as hand brake, empty and load car adjustment device, and ECP system, etc. Moreover, this design has also determined the measurements of the various transmission levers and the A value of brake shoe adjusters.
