Conserving Water Resource

Water is indispensable to our life and the development of national economy. It is often described as the source of all living things and the lifeblood of agriculture and industry. Without it, nothing could grow and out world would become a terrible desert.

The world we live in is now faced with a severe shortage of fresh water. According to some official figures, more than 1,700 million people in the world don't have enough clear water to drink and over 25 thousand people die of water related diseases daily.

So, all of us should actively b save water. It's our obligation for the benefit of the future generations.
Water Pollution
Water pollution is caused by waste from factories and cities. Oceans are able to clean themselves, but certain seas, once they become dirty, are not able to do so. One example is the Mediterranean which lies between Europe and Africa. It has onlyeone narrow entrance to the ocean in the west. On quarter of the shores of the Mediterranean are polluted and are no longer safe for swimming, as a lot of diseases are present in the water. In most places it is not safe to eat the fish.
Lakes also have the same problems. Lake Baikal in Asia was once the cleanest in the world, with over 700 different kinds of plant and animal life. Now, however, the waters of this great lake, which is also the world's deepest (over 1,740 metres), have been dirtied by waste from a chemical factory.
In 1989 an oil tanker hit a rock off the northwest coast of Alaska. 35,000 tons of oil poured into the sea. The accident was one of the worst in history. More than 34,000 birds and 10,000 animals were killed. 4,800 square kilometres of ocean were polluted.

As we know,more and more families own a car nowadays.It's true that a car has some advantages.It can takes us everywhere very fast.When we buy many things in a mall,we can put them in a car and needn't carry them with our hands.But a car has some shortcomings too.It uses petrol,and it lets out harmful gases that pollute the air.A car is very expensive,it costs us a lot of money.For these reasons,I won't buy a car.I enjoy taking a bus.

Nowadays, there is a heated debate over whether the vehicles are benefit beneficial for us. People retain diverse attitudes towards this issue.Before presenting my view, I would like to discuss both sides of the arguments. Firstly, great convenience has existed with the invention of car. Not only does it replace the exhausting long-distant walking but it also shortens the distance among people enhancing our working and studying efficiency.To some students in primary school, they will no long get up at dawn and walk to school which is five kilometres away from their houses. For business men or women, traveling by cars undoubtedly increases their working efficiency which enbles them to earn more money in a short time. However, the pollution which comes from the cars can not be ignored .The large amount of carbon dioxide which exhausts from cars is regarded as the key factor leading the increase in global temperature. Moreover, we are more often troubled by some lung diseases which are caused by polluted air. According to the investigation from health department of Chinese government, there is a strong enhancing tendency in the causing rate of lung cancer and the dominating reason is the unclean air which is polluted by cars. All in all, although some adverse influence of cars can not be neglected, I still believe that cars do more good than harm to our life and the adverse influence can be eliminated with the development of science and technology.
