STRAIGHT SAW
1. Clamps Out-of-Sync
The customer indicated that the rear clamp moved into the clamping position slower than the front clamp. Since the saw was not operating I was unable to observe the degree of difference in the movement of the clamps. It is worth noting that there is always a slight difference in the clamping movement. While this should not be of such a significant degree that the sawing operation starts before the clamps are in place, it is normal for the dual clamping movement.
Shunde engineers will look at the replacement or redesign of the air valves as well as provide some “fine tune” adjustments for the clamping pressure. It is possible that there is a clamping cylinder damage problem or simply a plug in the lines. Without any specific documentation on the “speed of clamping” it is hard to evaluate changes. This saw and components has not had clamping speed differential problems in the past.
However, Norwell will provide a “spare” clamping cylinder as a replacement and also provide a new air valve.
2. Saw Guides
The saw guides on the straight saw are only about 2” high. This causes a support problem when Uniteca runs 4” thin wall pipe. With this size of thin wall pipe there is not enough side support during the cutting operation and this causes a slight compression of the pipe which causes a ragged cut on the pipe.
The saw guides will be replaced with guides that are 4” in height. In addition, we will provide for a set of guides of the same height just prior to the vertical roller guides. We did not anticipate that the customer would be running such thing wall pipe in the larger diameters. All of these items will be replaced free of charge.
