按照楼主上面的写法应该是
how I can.. 是正确的。

这是Marc Terenzi的经典歌曲 Love To Be Loved By You 里面的歌词 非常Beautiful
这其中有一段歌词：
There are questions hard to answer
Can`t you see?
Baby, tell me how can I tell you
That I love you more than life
Show me how can I show you
That I`d blinded by your light
按照这段话的意思，其实歌词应该写成下面这样：
There are questions hard to answer
Can`t you see?
Baby, tell me ：“how can I tell you
That I love you more than life？”
Show me：“ how can I show you
That I`d blinded by your light？”
也就是说歌词里面唱的是直接引用。所以是How can I．．．的形式。没有错误。

而写成间接引用时应把该宾语从句的语序调整为陈诉语气：
Baby, tell me how I can tell you that I love you more than life.
