Baron de Coubertin designed the Olympic Flag in 1913-14. It has five interlocking rings (blue, yellow, black, green and red) on a white background. The ring's colours were based on the knowledge that at least one of these colours is on every flag of each participating country. The five interlocking rings represent the union of the five continents and the meeting of the athletes of the world at the Olympic Game.
The Olympic Flag was used for the first time in the 7th Olympiad in Antwerp, Belgium in 1920. It is paraded during the opening ceremony of each Game. At the end of the Games, the Olympic Flag is presented to the next host city by the Games host city.

A new flame is lit using a parabolic mirror to focus the rays of the Sun at the ancient Olympic Stadium in Olympia, Elis, Greece. The Flame is then transported to the host city where the last runner lights the large Olympic Cauldron by it and this burns throughout the Games. The Flame is extinguished during the closing ceremony. The Olympic Flame was first lit during the opening ceremony of the IX Olympic Games at Amsterdam, Netherlands in 1928.
The first Olympic Torch Relay occurred at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games.

Olympics
Everybody knows the 29th Olympic Games will be held in Bejing.
We feel it a great pleasure to hold the Games. All the Chinese people are happy to get this chance.
In November, the official Mascots of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games were unveiled. Like the five Olympic Rings from which they draw their colours and inspiration, the Five Friends will serve as the official Mascots of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, carrying a message of friendship and peace—and blessings from China---to children all over the world.
Beibei is the Fish, Jingjing is the Panda, Huanhuan is the Olympic Flame, Yingying is the Tibetan Antelope and Nini is the Swallow. When you put their names together -- Beijing Huan Ying Ni, which means “Welcome to Beijing.”
In 2008, we will have grown up. We can do many things for the Games. I want to be a guide, because this job can describe China to people. When they say “Oh, China is wonderful!” I will feel happy.
I hope the 2008 Olympic Games can make the Games even more popular!

The night of July 13th 2001 was an exciting night, a piece of news came from the international Olympics Committee in Moscow. China got the right to hold the 29th Olympics! The whole China was excited, everyone sang and danced, expressing their happy mood.
The earliest Olympics started around 779 BC in Greece. But the modern Olympics happened in 1896 also in Greece. Until now, there have been 28 Summer Olympics . To our great joy, the city of Beijing beat other condidate cities and brought the first ever Olympics Game to China !
As time goes by, the 2008 Olympics is coming nearer and nearer, everyone wants to try his best to help make the Olympics best all over the world .People also always think of the safety of the Olympics , language problems , environment problems and so on .In my opinion, on one hand , safety control is an important thing; on the other hand , traffic will be a serious problem for the 2008 Olympics , if Olympics going on , the crowds of foreign watcher will be stopped up by the busy traffic. That will bring bad influence.
Let’s make great effort , I will improve my foreign language skills as well, offering for the 2008 Olympics.
