1、A、took 2、C、had had been taken 3、B、had been taken .
1、 He was very careless, so I 【am afraid 时态信息】【that】he _ your umbrella by mistake
【Everything主语 】【(that) he had 定语从句】【had been taken_ away from谓语】【him 宾语】【before he returned to his hometown 时间状语从句】
难点在于:【(that) he had 】是省略了关系代词that的定语从句。
3、【Everything 主语】【(had been taken) away from谓语】【 him宾语】【 before he returned to his hometown 时间状语从句】。

(1) He was very careless, so I am afraid he _____ your umbrella by mistake yesterday.
(2) Everything he ___ away from him before he returned to his hometown.
(3) Everything ______ away from him before he returned to his hometown.
A. took B. had been taken C. had had been taken D. had taken
析:Everything后跟了一个定语从句he had,= everything that he had , 作主语,had been taken away from him是谓语,before-从句是时间状语从句。
析:Everything作主语,had been taken away from him是谓语,before-从句是时间状语从句。
(2) Everything he ___ away from him before he returned to his hometown.
(3) Everything ______ away from him before he returned to his hometown.
