定语从句就像是中文里面的形容词，用来修饰句子中间的某一名词。也可以修饰整个句子所描述的情况。例如：
形容名词的定语从句——The girl who lives near my house is my best friend. 住在我家旁边的那个女孩是我最好的朋友。
who lives near my house（住在我家旁边的） 就是定语从句，修饰女孩。

形容整体情况的定语从句—— There is nothing but silence in the room, which makes me uncomfortable. 意思是，房间里只有沉默，这种情况让我很难受。这里的which makes me uncomfrotable（让我难受)就是定语从句,描述的就是前面的沉默的这一情况。
