Nowadays, the kids are more and more relying on their parents because most of them are the only child of the family. But that is a wrong trend. In the old days, people get themselves indepent at a very early age. However, even a high school student can not wash his or her own clothes now. That's really pathetic. So it's important for the parents to help their children to be independent in order to survive in the world with so many competitors. But how? That's a big question. In my opinion, a habit is easily formed at a young age. And we should help them step by step. At the beginning, we can teach them to do the things like making beds and wash face. Give them a separate living room that they can be in charge of on their own. Later, we tell them to be brave. If they fall down, get up by themsevles and do not cry for help because wo won't. Tell them to protect us like a hero when they are older. If they have a problem. Don't solve for them, but try to help them make their own decisions, and find a way out by themselves. When they become older and are able to understand more things, we should tell them what's right and what's wrong. Let them know that the world is not an ideal paradise, they may meet different people and different problems that they should deal with when we are not around.
Being independent is not just a behavior, but more importantly, a mindset. And parents should help the children gradually. I think in this way, the children may know what to do and what not to do, and finally become independent. Thank you very much!

How? Are parents independent? If parents are independent, how come they need to help their children? If they help their children, who are they? Are they gods that are able to help others? If they are not gods, and they are independent, they should help themselves to be independent, and they need not help anybody to be independent, since everybody else can be independent by themselves. Right?
