1.During my most recent trip ,I came across a wonderful antique store wandering in the old quarter of the city.

答案说“wandering”错误，是不是应该改为“and wandered”呢？

2.As children mature, they develop an independence that their parents, who have been responsible for them since they were born, often find difficult to accept.

答案说这句话正确，可是为什么不把“an independence”改为“independences”呢？因为children是复数啊？？？

3. Although familiar to us from representations in ancient art, war chariots are rare museum artifacts because by the sixth century B.C. they were no longer used in battle.

答案说这句话正确，可为什么要用“by”呢？“by”不是表示“在。。。之前”吗？我觉得应该把“by”改为“after”？

2. independence 是不可数名词，即便是their，也用independence
例如：African territories eventually obtained their independence.
非洲领土最终获得了独立。
3. by + 时间，是固定用法，表示“到....的时候”
by the sixth century B.C. they were no longer used in battle:到公元前6世纪的时候战车就不用了
新概念里有一句话：By the time you read this, the Hubble will have sent thousnads and thousands of pitcures. 到你读到这篇文章的时候，哈伯望远镜已经传送了成千上万的图片。

2这道题是错的， independence是不可数名词，应该改写成 a kind of independence 一种独立倾向。

3 after- - - -强调“在-- -以后”，by强调“在- - - 以前就已经”。
