In religious views Christmas is a celebration of the Saviour Christ so it's infact a global thing.
On the other hand Globalisation is happening everywhere around the world so there's no such thing as a foreigner's festival. Christmas is a really big event in western countries and since they are the leaders in the world China followed up quickly in order to learn more about their culture.
Christams is the time when everyone exchange presents and wishes so everyone loved it. So no surprise it merged into everyones heart.
