yeah, i think so. because a child is taught to be a person of good manners from the day he or she is born. to behave like a gentleman or lady, one needs to learn from others or read related books. and the best way to do this is to imitate parents -- what they say and what they do every day, every minute.
to say thanks or thank you to somebody when they do something for you basically shows that one is polite or has good manners in a way. and saying thank you will always make the person helping you happy.
to say thank you to your parents for their help not only makes them happy, but they are also glad to see that their beloved is growin up into a gentleman or lady.
