看到一本语法书里，写英语的5大基本句型，写了一种是主谓表？
不应该是主系表吗？还是两者本来就是一回事，怎么叫都对？

不是主谓表，而是主系表。英语的系动词不能作谓语，只能和表语一起构成复合(合成)谓语 ，即主语 + 系动词 + 表语。
可以作表语的词语有：名词、代词、数词、形容词、有些副词、介词短语、名词从句、动名词、不定式、疑问词+不定式、和现在或过去分词。例如：
The house is expensive.
It is me.
He is a doctor / in the room / in / here / angry / excited.
Two plus five is seven.

系动词后接表语
所以，主谓表就是主系表，此句型中，连系动词作谓语动词，如下面的主系表句型:
I am a student.
连系动词am作谓语动词。
