定语从句 reason用法

1.The reason _ she gave up teaching was not ture.
2.The reason _ she gave up teaching was her serious illness.
这2个空都应该填why吗

第二句
The reason why she gave up teaching was her serious illness.
之所以他辞去老师的职务是由于严重的疾病。 是对“原因”的一个补充说明

对“为什么原因的”补充。就要用why
