题目：Today food travels thousands miles from the farm to the consumers. What is the reason? Is it a positive or a negative trend?
In the contemporary world, technology, as a symbol of 21st century, accelerates the progress of our society on varies fronts. Thanks to the improvement of transportation, people nowadays have more choice on food, even foreign food. In this essay I will analyze the causes of this trend and give my own perspective to this situation.
First of all, the improvement of transportation makes the long distant transportation come true. As is known to all, the fruits and vegetables get rotted and bad easily. Now the air transportation can deliver the food to the destination in several hours. For example, people living in north part of China can enjoy the food produced in the south and even abroad due to the convenient transportation. Also people can enjoy anti-seasonal fruits and vegetables.
Secondly, there are economic benefits to both the exporting and importing areas. People can make a lot of money and enjoy a more comfortable life through transporting food to a long distance away from the farm. Meanwhile, the government can have more revenue. The government can use this extra money to improve its people’s living standard.
From what has discussed above, people can get a clear understanding of the causes of this trend. However, many people assert that the long distant transportation is a waste of fuels and human labor. The food transported to a long distant far away from the farm can be more expensive. Many people can not afford that. But in my opinion the consumers themselves will decide what to buy.
All in all, from my own perspective, it is a positive trend. People can enjoy a more comfortable life and the government can have more money to improve its people’s living standard. 展开
