The Blind Side, tells a story about a black big boy , Michael, becomes a football star with the help from people around and the efferts he makes. In the world there is a “business” that will never be a failure. That is love.In the movie ,we can learn a lot.
Family: Americans regard the family as a tight whole and share happiness together. In the film when the daughter and Michael have the competition the whole family will watch together and cheer the member on. It’s very warm.
The individual freedom makes a lot to the family members especially to the children. In the Seans, even the little SJ can talk and do whatever he wants. Anne, maybe she seems to have absolute power to make decision, but she believes the individual freedom. So she said to Michael “ It’s your life, it’s your choice”. The movable plot gives us a lot to think.
Education : The public school education in the film give a perfect reflection of the American ideal of individual success based on equality of opportunity and on “work your way to the top.” Although Michael is a black , poor and low IQ boy，the school finally decide to give him a chance . When he can’t go to the university because of the low GPA , the teachers all did their best to help him with affection and patient.
As for the family education , maybe Michael’ s biological mother gives the birth to him, but the Sean’s family especially Anne give the soul to him . The heroine, who is very independent, efficient and full of love, Anne , makes Michael . She gives Michael not only the material help but also an anchor to him. She helped him get over the blind side.
Sports: In the America, sports are an indispensable life style for the leisure time. Football , basketball and baseball are three most popular sports. Football, which shows perfectly the American values and spirits ---- courage, struggle, smart, friendship and unity, gain the most popularity. In the movie, the whole family shows their special attention to the sports. And Michael, who is also enormous and has amazing potential to play football, joint the family, schools, teachers and even the society tightly and make the warm film successfully.
Inequality: Though the film shows the love between the white and black, we can also feel some inequality among the whole society. Between the rich and the poor, there is a gap . In the film , the black area is totally mess while the white area is very large and flourishing. And in the white school, white children show the signs of inequality between the racial and color. These social problems have a long way to solve.
All around, this sweet and inspirational movie shows a lot about the American values and life styles . It’s worthy of learning this kind of love.
