　　 As a kid growing up in London, Eddie would stay up late to watch the Oscars, which are televised in the U.K. in the middle of the night. However, he has never imagined himself winning an Oscar, because he has never attended proper drama schools, and instead studied history of art at the University of Cambridge.
　　 Although he hasn’t attended any drama schools, he has a strong passion for acting. When he was studying at Cambridge, Eddie often performed on stage, and dreamed of becoming a professional actor after graduation.
　　 Now, by winning the Best Actor award, he has realized not only his dream, but also many actors’ultimate goal.
　　 In order to perform well in The Theory of Everything, the British actor spent four months reading Hawking’s books. Apart from that, he also spent much time at a clinic in London with patients who suffered from ALS, studying their speech patterns and the way they moved through life.
　　 It is because of his hard work that Eddie could win such a big honor. But as for him, winning an Academy Award is not enough. “I’m not going to rest on my laurels,” Eddie said. “I still have a lot of work to do to become a great actor!”
