1.Mary and lucy are both great kids, but mary is the more beautiful girl。这里如果去掉the 变成but mary is more beautiful girl你一定会感到别扭。

5.That his presentation on financial strategy was criticized savagely by his

customers who watched it came as a shock to the analyst。 That (his presentation on financial strategy was criticized savagely by his

customers who watched it) came as a shock to the analyst,括号内的内容是主语从句的内容,说白了就是对That补充说明,简化就是that came as a shock。 It is surprising that he is a so smart。 That( he is so smart) is surprsing

6.Even the play’s most minor characters work together with extraordinary skill,

their interplay creates a moving theatrical experience.

7.Some speedometers register high speeds as two hundred miles per hour, even though few cars will ever go faster than one hundred.

因为如果不这样表达,只有一个as不地道,而且如果这题不是想说as...as的话,他也不会这样表述,直接可以说 speeds up to 200 miles per hour,不用as

8.
sock: plural socks or sox。

9.C. G. Jung, a Swiss psychologist, whose renown as a pioneer in the field of

psychoanalysis almost equals that of Sigmund Freud.

G. Jung, a Swiss psychologist 。
