需代理服务器上有一个合法的IP地址,LAN内其他用户可以使用10.*.*.*这样的私有IP地址,这样可以节约大量的IP,降低网络的维护成本。
代理服务器允许使用大量的伪IP地址,节约网上资源,即用代理服务器可以减少对IP地址的需求,对于使用局域网方式接入Internet ,如果为局域网(LAN)内的每一个用户都申请一个IP地址,其费用可想而知。
如果浏览器所请求的数据在它本机的存储器上已经存在而且是最新的,那么它就不重新从Web服务器取数据,而直接将存储器上的数据传送给用户的浏览器,这样就能显著提高浏览速度和效率。除此之外还有SOCKS代理服务器,其原理大同小异。
代理服务就是指不使用你的电脑本身的IP地址来访问WEB,而是通过别的机器来实现上网功能的,当然代理服务器的IP地址就是你要借用上网的机器的IP地址。端口就是指用该机器的哪个端口去实现代理上网,这根据此机器代理类型决定的,一般的HTTP类型的端口大概是80。

HTTP:超文本传输协议(HTTP,HyperText Transfer Protocol)是互联网上应用最为广泛的一种网络协议。所有的WWW文件都必须遵守这个标准。设计HTTP最初的目的是为了提供一种发布和接收HTML页面的方法。1960年美国人Ted Nelson构思了一种通过计算机处理文本信息的方法,并称之为超文本(hypertext),这成为了HTTP超文本传输协议标准架构的发展根基。Ted Nelson组织协调万维网协会(World Wide Web Consortium)和互联网工程工作小组(Internet Engineering Task Force )共同合作研究,最终发布了一系列的RFC,其中著名的RFC 2616定义了HTTP 1.1。
