《永不言弃》讲述的是篮球场、情场上针锋相对、恩怨情仇的故事，不同于一般谈情说爱、校园题材的偶像剧，该剧借戏剧的力量，让球迷能够重回球场。
该剧的演员大多是戏剧新人，表现非常投入，颜行书在剧中以其“猛男的身材，却有温和的小猫性格”获得观众的喜爱，男子组合5566五位各具特色的成员戏中既斗演技也斗球技。
《永不言弃》为了选出篮球健将臣风的扮演者，制作单位花了几个月时间挑选角色。
颜行书本是篮球运动员，因膝盖韧带拉伤而未能参加釜山亚运会，因祸得福被制作方选为男主角。
颜行书在演第一个镜头时，作为职业篮球运动员投了五次三分球才中，最后被200多张嘴嘘下台。
女主角张韶涵因为压力过大，拍戏时常发生无法控制的状况，因为以为彩排也要来真的，就直接扇了男主角3个耳光。
