我帮你一下,但不会是40篇,你要的太多啦!就是想帮你,也没时间呀!
1;Love is the best heritage
As a young man, Al was a skilled artist, a potter. He had a wife and two fine sons. One night, his elder son developed a serious stomachache. Thinking it was only some common disorder, neither Al nor his wife took the condition very seriously. But it was actually acute appendicitis (严重的阑尾炎), and the boy died suddenly that night.
Knowing the death could have been prevented if he had only realized the seriousness of the situation, Al’s emotional health deteriorated (恶化) under the burden of his guilt. To make matters worse, his wife left him a short time later, leaving him alone with his six-year-old younger son. The hurt and pain of the two situations were more than Al could handle, and he turned to alcohol to help him cope. In time Al became an alcoholic.
As the alcoholism progressed, Al began to lose everything he possessed — his home, his land and his art objects. Eventually Al died alone in a San Francisco motel room.
When I heard of Al’s death, I reacted with the same disdain (轻蔑) the world shows for one who ends his life with nothing material to show for it. “What a complete failure!” I thought. “What a totally wasted life!”
As time went by, I began to re-evaluate my earlier judgment. I knew Al’s now adult son, Ernie. He has grown into one of the kindest, most caring and most loving men I have ever known. I watched Ernie with his children and saw the free flow of love between them. I knew that kindness and caring had to come from somewhere.I hadn’t heard Ernie talk much about his father. One day I worked up my courage to ask him. “I’m really puzzled by something,” I said. “I know your father was basically the only one to raise you. What on earth did he do that made you become such a special person?”
Ernie sat quietly and reflected for a few moments. Then he said, “From my earliest memories as a child until I left home at 18, Al came into my room every night, gave me a kiss and said, ‘I love you, son.’”
Tears came to my eyes as I realized what a fool I had been to judge Al as a failure. He had not left any material possessions behind. But he had been a kind loving father, and he left behind one of the finest, most giving men I have ever known.
2;My bicycle
My bicycle was stolen last week. I left it outside a store while I went inside to get some things for my mother. When I came out, the bicycle was gone.
I have a chain and padlock(挂锁) that I usually use. I always put the chain around the front wheel and then lock the chain with the padlock. But I was in a hurry that morning and didn’t lock up the bike. And now it’s gone.
I went to the police station and reported the theft(盗窃). The police officer wrote down the information about the bike—its brand(牌子), color, serial number and so on. However, he didn’t think I’d get it back. “There are a gang of bicycle thieves at work,” he said. “They steal lots of bikes and then take them by truck to other cities where they sell them.”
“I can recognize my bike wherever I see it,” I said. “It has a tear(裂缝) in the seat.”
I was really unhappy about not having my bike because I had planned to take my bike on the train to my grandmother’s house. Then I would have it with me to ride while I visited her.
On my first evening at my grandmother’s house, I was looking through the local newspaper. I saw an ad for a second-hand bike. It was very cheap, so I went to the store to look at it.
To my surprise, it was my lost bike! I went to the police and told them about the bike and now I have my bike back
3;The rhythm of the rain
On the evening of last Sunday while I was reviewing my lessons in my room, it suddenly began to rain. Excited as usual, I stopped to listen to the rhythm of the rain. For many years, whenever it rains, I couldn’t help listening to it and thinking of the yard where I spent my childhood in my hometown.
When I was a little girl, my family lived in a big house with a big yard in the countryside. The yard was full of flowers and trees, with some bamboo in front of the wall. Whenever it rained, I used to sit in the corridor, listening to the rhythm of the rain and watching the falling raindrops.
When small drops of rain fall from the heaven in a row, they form a curtain made up of silver pearls; when the raindrops reach the ground, a lot of small sprays will splash and then disappear slowly.
I have been always fascinated to watch such a scene. Just as Indian poet Tagore (泰戈尔) wrote in his poem, “The raindrops kissed the earth and whispered, ‘We are the homesick children, Mother; come back to you from the heaven.’”
Listening to the rhythm of the rain and watching the scene of the rain, I feel calm and peaceful in my heart. This feeling of peace make me think a lot about life. We are the children of the earth, and one day we will embrace our mother and stay with her forever. Life is short and we should treasure it.
Listening to the rhythm of the rain, I learn to understand the meaning of life.
