Autobiography
My name is Chiwen Cheng. I was born the youngest child in a happy family on January 2, 1970 in Singapore. I have four brothers and I'm the only girl in my family. My father is a successful surgeon in Alexandra Hospital. My mother teaches piano at a nonprofit association.
After I graduated from National University of Singapore with a B.S. degree in Computer
Science, I was admitted to the graduate school of the University of Massachusetts. I received my master's degree in 1995 and went traveling in Europe for a year before coming back to
Singapore. I tried a few jobs with trade companies, but I don't think I'm suited for business. My talent is in computers. I wish I could put what I've learned into practice.
You're the biggest computer organization in Singapore, and I'm sure I'll enjoy myself working for you. And with my talent and knowledge in computers, I believe you'll find me a very competent worker. I so wish you can arrange an interview so that you can know more about my abilities.

The United States is a country dependent on fuel: we have to heat our homes, drive our cars, and run our factories. We have a great need for energy because of our fast-paced lifestyle. Once we thought that there was no end to fuel; now we realize that supplies are very limited, particularly here in the United States. Prices for foreign oil are increasing daily, and someday we may not be able to get oil, because of difficult world politics, even if we can afford it. We must find a solution to our dependence on foreign energy; we must find usable energy in our own nation.
In addition to petroleum, we have other domestic sources of energy; natural gas, coal, and wood. Natural gas can offer some relief from insufficient oil supplies. Like oil, however, natural gas is limited and in time will run out. Coal is an abundant domestic source of energy, but the use of coal causes increased pollution. Wood is another source of energy, but it is expensive, and the cutting of large forest areas also causes environmental problems, such as mud slide and erosion.
