英语中，分词可以放在名词后面用作修饰语，现在分词（ing形式）表示主动，过去分词（ed表被动）表示被动。如：
1. a house (that was) built of stone 用石头建造的房子（built）
2. a room (that was) painted in greens and blues 一间被绿色和蓝色粉刷的屋子（paint）
3. After the explosion the street was full of people running for cover.爆炸发生以后，满街都是奔跑躲避的人们。（running）=After the explosion the street was full of people who ran for cover.
P.S. 第一句话和第二句话，没有that was就是分词做后置定语，加上that was就是定语从句。
