Newspaper is an important media to keep people informed of what happens both at home and abroad in modern society. China, for example, has issued several English newspapers like China Daily, 21st Century, and Shanghai Star to satisfy readers of different English levels. China Daily is the first English newspaper in China and has become the most authoritative one. New York Times is an American daily newspaper founded and continuously published in New York City in 1851.
This thesis is a comparative study of an English newspaper published in China and the other English newspaper published in America. And there are many differences and similarities between these two newspapers.

This thesis will explore the following questions: what are the similarities between China Daily and New York Times in English report on political news? What are the differences between China Daily and New York Times in English report on political news? What are the reasons for these similarities and differences? 展开
