题目是这样的。the mean score on a statistics course is 63% with a standard deviation of 12, with scores following a normal distribution. If the department wants no more than 20% of students to fail the course, what should the pass mark be?

假设平均分为u，那么该题的意思是要求小于60分的人数不得超过0.2。因为考试成绩分布满足正态分布，假设该分布为Z（u，12）。所以也就是要求Z（60）<0.8.通过标准化，就S（（60-u）/12）<0.8。通过查表得到0.8对应的x值是0.85.所以要求（60-u）/12<0.8。就出u>70.2。所以得出结论，平均分要达大于70.2分才能使得不挂科的人数不超过20%。好久没有复习了，思路可能有点混乱。希望有用~~~
