As a tool for emergency contact, mobile phones are very useful to not only adults but children as well. The problem is that the functions of a mobile phone is not limited to just that, it also serves as a hand held entertainment device which features music, video and games. The 3G network together with high caliber smart phones now enable their owners to use them just like any other computer.

Therefore, in my opinion, the real issue is not whether the schools should or should not permit students to CARRY mobile phones. Most, if not all, of the students do have one; and many of the parents might insist that their children be allowed to carry them for emergency purposes. What schools can do, however, is to impose strict rules on when and where the students are allowed to use their mobile phones, and perhaps to what extent they may use them.

This, I believe, is a more realistic approach to dealing with the social phenomenon.

in my opinion, this is not a good idea. there are some reasons. first of all, it is not good for students' study especially the primary students. they will play their mobile phones when the teachers are teaching. as a result, they will not anderstand what the teachers say. secondly, it will cost most of their pocket money. they will not have so much money to buy books or something else. in a word, it is not a good idea.
