In the United States and Canada,people often invite friends for a meal,a party,or just coffee.And people there would say:”Would you like to come over for dinner tonight?”
“Hey,we’re going to have a party on Friday.Can you come?”
To answwer an invitation,people say either thank you and accept or sorry and give an excuse,Sometimes,however,what people say is like an invitation,but really it is not a real invitation.
These words are not real invitations because they don’t talk about the date or time.They just show that the person is trying to be friendly.To answer these,people just say,’Sure,that would be great.”or “OK,thank you.”
So if you hear what is like an invitation next time,you must listen carefully.
For example:
“Please come over for a drink sometime.”
“Let’s get together for lunch soon.”
