2 Last Wednesday the Shenzhou 5 spaceraft orbited the Earth 14 times and reached an altitude of 343 kilometers.The space filght lasted 21 hours and the 38-year-old astronant landed safely at 6:23 am the next dayn in lnner Mongolia.China is now the third country. after the Soviet Union andthe USA,to send a person into space.
3 Yang Liwei was born in Liaoning Province and in 1987 he joined the Chinese Air Force and was a pilot.11 years late,he join the Chinese space porgramme with 13 other pilots.He trained for five years.“I always wanted to be an astronaut,”he said.
4 People on Earth watched Yang Liwei 's space filgh on TV.He waved yo everyone on Earth and showed the Chinese national falg.He had a meal of chicken and rice and he also rested for three hours.
5 Yang Liwei is still a hosband and a father. But today he's also China's first astronaut hero.
