第一篇：The Brother's Wish

Paul received a car from his brother as Christmas present. On Christmas Eve when Paul came out of his office,a boy was walking around the shiny new car,admiring it."Is this your car, Mister?" he said. Paul nodded.”My brother gave it to me for Christmas."The boy was surprised."You mean your brother gave it to you and it cost you nothing ?I wish..."he hesitated.Of course Paul knew what he was going to wish for.He was going to wish he had a brother like that."I wish ,"the boy went on,"that I could be a brother like that ."Paul looked at the boy in surprise.Then he added,"Would you like to take a ride in my car?""Oh ,yes ,I'd love that."
After a short ride, the boy turned with his eyes aglow,said,"Mister,would you mind driving in front of my house ?"Paul smiled a little .He thought he knew what the boy wanted.He wanted to show his neighbors that he could ride home in a big car.
But Paul was wrong again ."Will you stop where those two steps are?"The boy asked. He ran up the steps.Then in a little while Paul heard him coming back ,but he was not coming fast.He was carrying his crippled brother.He sat him down on the bottom step,then sort of squeezed up against him,and pointed to the car.
接上：
"There she is, Buddy, just like I told you upstairs.His brother gave it to him for Christmas and it didn't cost him a cent.And some day I'm going to give you one just like it…Then you can see for yourself all the pretty things in the Christmas windows that I've been trying to tell you about."

在兜了一小段风之后，这个男孩睁着一双明亮的眼睛看着他：“先生，能不能请您把车开到我家的房子跟前？”保罗浅浅地笑了，他想他知道这个男孩想要什么。他只是想要向邻居炫耀一下他可以乘着这样一辆好车回家吧。
但是保罗又错了“能请您把车停在那两节台阶跟前吗？”小男孩问。他快速地小跑过去，过了一小会儿保罗听见小男孩回来了，但是他并没有很快过来。他背着他残疾的弟弟。小男孩让他的弟弟坐在台阶上，然后紧紧靠着他，指着那辆车:"这就是那辆车了！就像我在楼上告诉你的那样。这辆车是他哥哥送给他的圣诞礼物，没有花他一分钱。将来有一天我也要给你送一辆这样的车，然后你就能拥有我曾告诉你的我曾在橱窗里看到的那些漂亮的东西了！“保罗想他明白了耶稣曾说过的一句话：”给予总比得到更快乐。“

我的语法很差，所以就不说了……就说说短语吧
我觉得需要注意一下的短语有以下：
mean to do=plan to do

mean doing 故意做某事
two steps 两节台阶

sort of squeezed up against him 紧紧靠着他

Try to do 尽力做
try doing尝试做
wish:
wish sb to do sth
wish to do sth
wish that从句
hope:
hope to do
hope that从句
Note:hope不用做hope sb to do sth
