在the way+从句中, the way 是先行词, 其后是定语从句，它有三种表达形式：

1、 the way+that 

2、the way+ in which 

3、the way + 从句(省略了that或in which)

在通常情况下, 用in which 引导的定语从句最为正式,用that的次之,而省略了关系代词that 或 in which 的, 反而显得更自然,最为常用.如下面三句话所示,其意义相同.

另外，在当代美国英语中，the way用作为副词的对格，"the way+从句"实际上相当于一个状语从句来修饰全句，如下；
