答案是B 为什么不能是 C be known for 不就是因……而闻名的意思吗 为什么这里省略了be 什么情况下可以省略be

句子主体部分 Professor Wang is warmly received by his students.（主谓宾全）那么
( )for his splendid lectures一定不是谓语，也就没有be（或be的相应形式）
而且，过去分词可以作定语（过去分词作定语表被动）Professor Wang is known for his splendid lectures（定语从句原句）
PS 1.现在分词也可以作定语，不过是表主动
如 原句：Mr Wang is coming to the classroom（主动）. Mr Wang is followed by 2 students（被动）.
定从①Mr Wang followed by 2 students is coming to the classroom.（有没有逗号都一样）
②Mr Wang coming to the classroom is followed by 2 students .
2.一个句子中若有定语从句，如
A boy who is standing under the tree is my brother.=A boy standing under the tree is my brother.(可省略 who is)
A woman who is followed by a stranger is afraid.=A woman followed by a stranger is afraid.(同样可省略who is)
所以，像定从里的who is /which is等可以省略
3.出现问题中的句子一定要先看有没有已经存在谓语（谓语大部分就是动词），有动词，填入的短语中一定不能含动词。

如果选选 C，句子就变成有两个谓语了。Professor Wang，be known for his splendid lectures, is warmly received by his students.(be 和 is 都是谓语)
而选 B，known for his splendid lectures 这个部分是作为句子的插入成分，并不影响句子的主题结构。
英语句子归根到底就是主谓宾结构和主谓结构，只是变化无穷而已。
