以前考据的时候提到过关于修兵69的来历。最喜欢的那个推论就是：那代表的其实是作为摇滚乐里程碑的1969年。1969年伍德斯托克音乐节是摇滚史上的盛会。也就是这场空前绝后的音乐狂欢，将摇滚文化推上了顶峰。
60年代精神在西方文化中的重要乃至于梦幻般的地位，也是我们每个人所熟悉的吧[……忘不了阿甘正传……]……70年代以后，以美国为首，开始陷入精神信仰和经济的双重危机，而69作为60年代的最后一年，回忆起来也就带了几分末日黄昏的苦味。
大家应该还记得加州酒店歌词中的那句’We haven’t had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine’。这里的1969，象征的就是摇滚乐的巅峰。这句歌词暗示的就是自69年以后，摇滚乐就失去了最有力的精神内核。60年代的自由风潮爆发结束之后，取而代之的就是70年代的堕落。作为精神偶像的摇滚乐团几乎无一例外地转向性与毒品带来的虚幻安慰，可以想见这对于整个社会精神的影响。

然而关于Summer of 69的主题，相关的说法却很有意思.
作者Brian Adams在1980-2005自传中说，“这首歌与69年一点关系也没有，实际上这只是我对Bob Seger的"Night Moves"做出的回应——这是一首以性为主题的歌。”也就是说，按他的本意，'69不过是个文字游戏，他想唱的其实就是最后的那句"Me and my baby in 69"……=[]=

歌词中有句是"Jimmy quit, Jody got married"。这里的Jimmy是指Jim Wesley，80年代Adams所组的乐队中的鼓手。他离开了乐队，去做了地毯推销员，因为唱歌无法维持生计。Jody指的则是Jody Perpick，现在还是Adams的乐队经理和录音师。
