compare the repeatability of the devices. The average COVs at sites 1, 2, and 3 were 8.00, 4.48,
and 3.52, respectively, for the SSG and 9.86, 8.03, and 6.91, respectively, for the CIST. Paired t-
tests were performed to investigate the significance of these differences between the SSG and the
CIST, where the null hypothesis in each test was that the mean COVs were equal and the
alternative hypothesis was that they were not equal. The testing yielded p -values of 0.280,
0.145, and 0.002 for sites 1, 2, and 3, respectively. At the standard error rate of 0.05, this
indicates that the differences in COV between the SSG and CIST at sites 1 and 2 are not
significantly different; however, the COV of the SSG is less than that of the CIST at site 3.
Because lower COVs are associated with better repeatability, these analyses suggest that the
