湖北省简介
湖北省位于中国中部、长江中游、洞庭湖以北，土地面积18万多平方公里，总人口近6000万，设12个省辖市、1个自治州、1个林区、3个省直管市、102个县（市、区）。省会为武汉市。
湖北是华夏先祖炎帝神农的诞生地，是楚文化的发祥地，是三国文化的重要发生地，是辛亥革命的首义之地。雄伟秀丽的长江三峡驰名中外；玄妙神奇的武当山古建筑群和钟祥明显陵被列为世界遗产名录；富有珍稀动植物的神农架林区被誉为“绿色宝库”。

A Brief Introduction of Hubei Province
Hubei Province has a population of almost 60 million, which is located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and in the north of the Dongting Lake. Wuhan is the capital city of Hubei ,which covers an area of over 180,000 square kilometers with its jurisdiction over 12 cities,1 autonomous prefecture and 102 counties.
As the birthplace of the ancient“Empire Shengnong” and of Chu Culture，Hubei was an important place of the Three Kingdoms Culture and the first place of Xinhai Revolution. Hubei have the beautiful scenery of the Three Gorges and the reputation of “Green Treasure House” of Shennongjia Forest Region with many rare animals and plants. The mysterious and amazing ancient building on the Wudang Mountain and the grave of Empire Xian are the world heritages.
Hubei, which known as “the province with a thousand lakes” and “the land of fish and rice”, is one of the major areas in China which can produce rice, cotton, oil, and fish. It is also well-known for “a thoroughfare of 9 provinces” for its network of transportation by plane, water, highway and railway. With solid industrial foundation, Hubei has a system of modern industry. Main industries include automobile, metallurgy, electronic informations, food, machinery, electricity, chemical industry, textile and construction materials. Hubei is the top group of a large number of universities, colleges, research institutes and national key experiment rooms, which makes itself the second largest dense region of intelligent persons and the third biggest center of education in China.
