With industrial development, various pollutants contained in the sewage have increased, and water pollution has become increasingly apparent. Currently, many factories are eager to deal with the wastewater problem through technological advancement and management control. Advanced water treatment process is technically sound and it has become the major process choice. As an environmental friendly disinfectant, not only ozone is one of the most effective sterilizing tools, it also serves as odor remover and bleaching agent. Besides, it can improve the water quality without causing secondary pollution; therefore, the ozonation process is considered to be the emerging technology in water treatment. This paper discusses the method and mechanism of the ozonation process and its performance and application will be reviewed. Also, new employment of the ozonation process in wastewater treatment will be introduced.
