elude sb. （人做宾语）有两层意思：

 

1、如果是有思考判断力人或动物作主语，意思是“巧妙地躲避/逃脱某人”，如：

• The cat eluded the dog. 那只猫逃离了那只狗。

 

2、如果是无思考判断力的事物作主语，属于使役用法。意思是“某物使某人理解不了/抓不到”，如：

 

• His name has always eluded me  他的名字一直让我想不起来。

• The word always eluded him. 那个词总是让他理解不了。

 

elude sth.（物作宾语）表示“避开/躲避某事”、“从某事解脱”或“理解不了某事物”。如：

 

• He must elude his sorrow. 他必须从他的悲哀中解脱出来。

• they attempt to elude capture. 他们试图躲避追捕。

• The sentence eludes my understanding. 这个句子让我理解不了。
