The 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill is the worst environmental disaster in history. It was caused by the explosion of an oil rig "Deepwater Horizon", which lead to 11 rig workers' death. Both of the economic and environmental damages were huge. Oil company BP is now facing a fine and clean up cost of up to 30 billion dollars. The incident was the biggest of its kind and making energy thrist the USA has to think twice before allowing other oil companies to drill again in the deep water around its coasts.
An earthquake in Japann on March 11, 2011 caused a tsunami. The tidal wave swallowed a large part of the eastern part of Japan. Numerous of people were killed and tens of thousands were made homeless. The worst thing of the incident was the Fukushima nuclear disaster, which because of the earthquake that had damaged the power plants. A series of equipment failures, nuclear meltdown and releases of radioactive materials into the air, It was the largest nuclear disaster since the Chernobyl disaster of 1986.
我还有第3个选择给你呢,那便是北极冰圈受温室效果影响,导致北极熊的生态环境被严重损害。
Air pollution has now caused serious problem to the environment, the so called greenhouse effects, which harmful gasses had been released into the atmosphere and damaged the ozone, a direct result of melting the Arctic ice. Indirectly, makes the polar bears having a very hard time for their survival. They have lost their hunting grounds, many have to swim long distance from one ice block to the other. Number of young cubs died during these voyages. So they are now facing a big threat to their survival.

选的墨西哥湾漏油

难度有点大,不过词汇高中都学过,就是看你能不能用的流畅了。
祝学习成功

Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill
Main article: Deepwater Horizon oil spill
On April 21, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon oil platform, located in the Mississippi Canyon about 40 miles off the Louisiana coast, suffered a catastrophic explosion; it sank a day-and-a-half later.[14] Although initial reports indicated that relatively little oil had leaked, by April 24, it was discovered that approximately 1,000 barrels (42,000 gallons) of oil per day were issuing from the wellhead, about a mile below the surface on the ocean floor.[15] On April 29, the U.S. government revealed that approximately 5,000 barrels of oil per day (210,000 gallons), five times the original estimate, were pouring into the Gulf from the wellhead.[16] The resulting oil slick quickly expanded to cover hundreds of square miles of ocean surface, posing a serious threat to marine life and adjacent coastal wetlands, and to the livelihoods of Gulf Coast shrimpers and fishermen.[17] Coast Guard Rear Adm. Sally Brice O’Hare stated that the U.S. government will be “employing booms, skimmers, chemical dispersants and controlled burns” to combat the oil spill. As of May 1, 2010, the oil spill cleanup efforts are underway, but hampered by rough seas and the "tea like" consistency of the oil. As of May 27, 2010, USGS had revised the estimate of the leak from 5,000 barrels a day to 12,000-19,000 barrels a day.[18]
