April 23, 2011 was the sixteenth World Reading Day. Since the first decade of the twenty-first century, there has always existed a problem, that is, the number of books that people read is falling, as can be seen clearly in the line graph of the sales figure for best books company.
From 2004 to 2005, the national sales figure of books is was rising. Later, from 2005 to 2006, the figure remained steady, that's about one million books a year and from 2006 to 2007, the national sales figure of books rose dramatically. In 2007, the figure reached a peak of three million books a year. However, from 2007 to 2008, the national sales figure of books fell to two million books a year. As to the international sales figure of books, from 2004 to 2005, it rose gradually to two million. But from 2005 to 2006, the number of books sold has declined sharply.( Then, from 2006 to 2007, the number was steady, that is, about one million books a year. From 2007 to 2008, however, the international sales figure of books fell to less than a million.
Why does such a big problem exist in the twenty-first century? The answer to this question is not that people don't like to read books or aren't interested in reading books, but that the way in which people get information has changed into the Internet, not books. The electronic books have become part of our culture, which fits the so-called "fast-food culture". In addition, the pace of life has become faster than what it was in the twentieth century, so people have clung to the belief of "Time is money". But the result is that people read real books less and less, which problem really needs our attention.

In the past, many people like to read newspapers, because this can learn about current events. The newspaper in the past is very popular. Now there are many people watching the newspaper. But, more people like through the network understanding of what happened. So, the future newspaper is likely to disappear. More and more people will use computers. The computer will also spread to tens of thousands of households. We can very quick know oneself want to know things. The newspaper to a much slower. But the use of computer is different. For example, something that has just happened, less than twenty minutes we can know. How convenient! Now science and technology more and more developed, I believe, in the near future, the network will replace the newspaper. The newspaper era also will become history.
