I spent the whole afternoon seeking out each of my classrooms so that I could make a perfectly timed entrance before each lecture without having to ask silly questions about where it was.
The next morning I found my first class and marched in. Once I was in the room, however, another problem arose. Where to sit? Freshman manuals advised sitting near the front (as advised), but out of the professor’s direct line of vision.
I had prepared the first chapter of our textbook on American Literature and written the date on top of the first page. “Welcome to Biology 101,” the professor began. A cold sweat broke out on the back of my back
