which引导定语从句在从句中作主语，宾语或是表语。
where引导定语从句在从句中作地点状语，where=介词+which。

一般情况下，定语从句引导词都是which或者that，只有在从句里的动词时不及物动词且缺少介词的时候可以用where，
你看第一句从句里面，my mother and i used to sit in the evening，这里的介词in是in the evening用表时间，sit是不及物动词，所以要用where.
第二句里面的动词时be动词，是及物动词，所以一定要用which 或者where.
