不知道自己写的这个英语句子对不对，求教.

我想表达的是，电灯泡的发明是历史里浓墨重彩的一笔，给世界已光亮，同时也催生了一个新的电子产业。
The invention of light bulb added a splendid stroke in the history, bringing light to every corner of the world, and, as well, provoked a nascent electric industry.

added a stroke这儿好像有点问题，毕竟add词意不大对，strike是动词，还有，history要不要冠词，有待斟酌

stroke表示笔触.metaphor.但是不知道加一笔应该用哪个动词.
