Ladies and gentlemen,
I’m so honored to talk about sports with you.
As time goes by,sports have become more and more important in people’s modern life.
People take part in different kinds of sports,such as football,basketball,volleyball,table tennis,swimming,running and so on.Sports are popular all over the world.People also like watching sports matches.Sports stars are very popular with people,especially students.
There are sports matches almost every day.But the most important and famousmatches are the Olympic Games. The Olympic Games was first held in 776BC.The first modern Olympic Games was held in 1896 in Athens. The five Olympic Games stand for five continents.The first Olympic Torch Relay was in 1896.
In 2000 Olympic Games, China won 28 gold medals. We were the third one, America was the first,and Russia was the second.Every athlete is eager to win in the Games.At that time all sports fans sit in front of television sets to watch the games.Some even go to the stadium to watch.
At the 2004 Athens Olympics, our Chinese team did extraordinarily well. We ranked second on the medal lists for the first time in history. In my opinion, however, we should not only concentrate on the figure of medals; instead the strength and perseverance of those who failed to get any medals ought to be highly cherished. Whether ever success or failure, whether ever cheer or tear, whether ever medal or not, the never-gave-up spirits of athletes are always motivating us.
Beijing will host 2008 Olympic Games;all of us should support the Games.We should learn more about the Olympic Games and rules of the games. We should also learn English well,so that we can communicate with foreigners and help them with their troubles.
I believe in the year 2008, the world will focus all their attention to Beijing, China, where the glory of the Games will continue to thrive forever!
The ancient said:happiness lies first of all in health,but health lies first of all in sports. I think sports can keep us fit ,and make us strong.The sports matchs can make us excited,make our life full of happiness.Let’s enjoy sports;it will make your life wonderful!
