1.what is the matter本身就是陈述语序, what”s the matter 或 what was the matter,表示“怎么啦”，语序相对固定。, 宾语从句里要采用陈述语序. 不管宾语从句是陈述句、一般疑问句或特殊疑问句，都要用陈述句语序，也就是说主谓次序不能颠倒。连接词＋主谓结构 两个例句： She wanted to know what was the matter. I could not understand what was the matter with me. 上述例句摘自（张道真：现代英语用法词典） 2.hotel前面要用冠词的话我也这么觉得，但是我觉得确实要用where，因为后面宾语从句里stay是不及物的，要用stay in SP，所以前面的要用where。如果原句是Is this hotel ( )you said we were to stay in,注意这里有个in，那么就用what了，what在这里是宾语从句的主语。3。whether...or not...是固定用法，记住就可以了。
