我还在考虑，原句中是would better +off 呢？如果是这样，就不应该将better 从would 中强行剥离出来。
看到这个better off时，我想到了学过的well off ,那是指家境较好，但这里显然与此无关。

补充：我好奇，我看到句子前面有个Similarly（类似的），如果你给的句子前面还有其他句子，那么答案可以从前面句子推理后面的意思。
