The date was like any other day in his life.After school Bill walked past the shop on the street corner.He stopped to look at the front row of shoes,and he felt for sorry for himself.He really wanted to have a pair for his birthday.

1. the date是"那一天“，是具体的某一天，将它和除它之外的，他人生中的任何一天相比较，说它象他生活中的任何一天，所以用was like any other day.
2. corner 一词前的介词，根据情况的不同，和不同的介词。比如扫帚放在房间的角落里，用in a cornor of the room. 如果是在房子的外拐角，则用on the corner of the house. 如只表示一个”点“，则用at the corner of the house. 这里的街道的拐角，应该是和房子的外角一样道理。
这与on, in, at这三个介词的根本用法有关系。一般说来，at表示”点“，on表示”线“，”面上“，而in表示在一个范围内，区域内或空间里。
3. 误打。

it is adjective to do sth . 是个常用句型.it 是形式上的主语,真正的主语是不定式短语to do sth 这里是个to be without shoes .,than 后用了省略.without 是介词不能作主语
thought 是谓语动词，一个简单句只有一个谓语o并列谓语要用并列连词如and 连接起来；thinking 是现在分词属非谓语动词在句中作状语表伴随情况常用逗号隔开

1.这是一种固定的搭配，eg:He is taller than any other student in his class.这里的student就不能加s，你要问为什么，我也说不出来，你可以理解为一种固定的语法规定。八下的英语书上有一句if you have any question,这里的question也没有加s
2.你可以想象一下那个画面，一个人站在街角处，肯定是在马路上面并与之接触的，所以用on（如果你想知道on above over的区别的话可以追问），也可以用at，on/at the street corner是一个固定的短语。（我们老师讲既可以用in the street也可以用on，但这里应该使用on)
3.本人认为应该是he felt sorry for himself,因为我们学的是feel sorry for，对什么感到伤心（抱歉），这里可能是作者打错了。
