As a citizen of the Republic of China I feel it is my duty to serve my community. I know that sometimes people don't realize it, but when you help someone you are in a way helping yourself. All the good that you may do to others will always reflect upon you. No one knows when or how they are going to need the help of someone.
When I was younger, I began to help elderly ladies with their groceries. Every Saturday I would go help them carry the groceries to their car. Most of the time they wanted to pay me, but I always refused to accept it. It was no trouble for me, I really enjoyed helping them. The main reason was that they reminded me of my grandparents. I wouldn’t want my grandparents to lift heavy groceries, and I don’t think people should accept money for any voluntary help.
