require additional operations such as shaving, milling, reaming
or grinding. For the precise assembly, at least two, but
generally more, secondary operations are required. Thereby,
there have been lots of technology developments in order to
get fine blank or burr-less hole [3–5]. Clearance and sharpness
of the tools are critical factors of burr formation. With
proper clearance and sharp tools we can reduce the size of
burr but burr-free punching is almost impossible. The main
goal of this work is to develop a new punching process in
order to get fine blank/hole by maximizing burnish area andminimizing fracture area of the hole. Here, a new hydromechanical
punching is proposed as a potential candidate for
the burr-free punching or piercing method.
