是several thousand还是several thousands of ?

如果想强调几千则several thousand
后面如果有介词宾语用several thousand of.
也许你会很奇怪为什么没有s.
hundred, thousand这样的词若前面是具体的 几个的时候是不用复数的，但如果是概指则用s.
eg. four thousand
many hundreds of ...
several这个词虽然为一些但它表示3-12这个范围，所以我们把它看成是具体的表示数量的词。

several thousand 作前置定语用时（后面有其它名词）按规则一般不加s 例如：
Several thousand lawyers suspended for failing to pay dues

但这点并不严格，也有例外，例如：

总体来说，英语在这方面不是很严格，所以引起老师们的分歧。实践中，没有那么抠语法的。
但在考试中，记住做前置定语用时不加s，其余都加就可以了。

表示具体数字就都不用复数，比如several thousand of... five thousand of... six hundred...但是如果说成百上千，成千上万，泛指很多的时候，就用复数 thousands of... tens of thousands of... hundreds of... millions of...
