1. Against humour.
A: Hey, did you hear Professor Smith's lecture yesterday? I heard it was very funny!
B: Hmm? What's so good about that? University's not for fun, we came here to learn.
A: Well, I guess so. Too much humour in an academic class can bring unnecessary distractions, and may cause the students to not take the lessons seriously.
B: Yea, we didn't paid tuition just to listen to jokes...Professor Smith should paid more attention in educating us.
A: I agree.
2.For watching flim at home.
A: Sam, do you want to came to cinema with me? I want to watch <Hulk 2>.
B: I want to watch it too, but I don't want to go to cinema. Want to rent it and watch it at my house?
A: Why not?
B: The cinema's too crowded, and some people can be distracting, plus you have to wait in line. Renting is so much easier.
A: Yea, I guess so. Let's go then!
3. For space exploration
A: Don't you think that the universe is really fascinating?
B: Yea, that's why I wanted to be an astronaut.-laugh- I wanted to jump on the moon, and discover some foreign lifeforms.
A: Big dreams! But I want to see our astronauts explore the space and discover some new planets. Earth is slowly out of resource.
B: Yea, maybe one day, we can all live on another planet.
4.For the view that women face unequal treatment in getting promoted
B: My mom didn't get the position she wanted again, they promoted some new guy to the job. I think the boss is sexist.
A: That's not fair. In a modern society, one would think that sexual discrimination had long disappeared.
B: However, this is not the case. Although women are given more chances than they had before, many still doubt the ability of women.
A: Yea, especially in a traditional country like China. Some women are still expected to stay at home when they married.
B: It takes time to change.
4. For divorce as the solution to a loveless marriage
A: Did you hear that Professor Sue's getting a divorce?
B: What, why? I thought she really love her husband? They are married for 6 years already.
A: Yea, but I heard that her husband had an affair, and they decided that love no longer exist in their marriage.
B: Wow, so unexpected! I have to agree with her decision though, there's no point of maintaining a marriage if you no longer like each other. This will only cause pain for the both of them.
---
I hope you understand them. I'm not sure if you had wanted a connected conversation that involved all these topics, so I broke them down into little conversations. I think you can move them around to make them flow though. Like I would suggest that topic 1 be the first one, and topic 2 be the last one. The middle doesn't really matter. Hope you'll take it.
I can try to give the translations if you need it.
