曾经是美食杂志编辑的“非职业小三”文佳佳（汤唯饰）因为怀孕到美国月子中心待产。因为迷恋《西雅图不眠之夜》这部电影，文佳佳毫不犹豫把待产地点选在了西雅图。曾经是北京某医院著名心外科主治医生的郝志因为要照顾随前妻移民到美国的女儿，放弃了自己的医生事业，来到美国成了某月子中心的司机兼保姆Frank（吴秀波饰）。一个细雨濛濛的夜晚，前去机场“接客”的Frank遇到了初到美国人生地不熟的待产妇文佳佳。经历了初见时的刁难争吵、长时间接触下来的从相互了解到相知相依，Frank与文佳佳渐渐擦出了奇妙的火花，两人的人生际遇也因此而改变。
