There is some explanation about how to use 'To' and 'For':
表示原因的使用:
I went to the supermarket to buy apples. (to+v.)
I went to the supermarket for apples. (for+n.)
表示接受者的使用:
I made a cake for Frank. (for +n.)
I gave the cake to Frank. (to + n.)
gave 以及类似动词表示(movement)把东西从一个人传递到另一个人,用to.
made 不包含movement,所以用for.
表示意图的使用:
I asked her to give me the key. (to +v.)
I asked her for the key. (for +n.)
Motive/Reason:
I came here to talk to you. to talk,表示意图;to you表示接受者;
Telling the time:
Let's meet at ten to nine.
Distance:
It's about 10 km from my home to your home.
Comparing:
I prefer apples to bananas.
Destinations:
We are going to France.
Transferring/ give/ send/ sell
I sent it to her yesterday.
