There is some explanation about how to use 'To' and 'For': 

1. 表示原因的使用：

   I went to the supermarket to buy apples. (to+v.)

   I went to the supermarket for apples. (for+n.)

2. 表示接受者的使用：

   I made a cake for Frank. (for +n.)

   I gave the cake to Frank. (to + n.)

   gave 以及类似动词表示(movement)把东西从一个人传递到另一个人，用to.

   made 不包含movement，所以用for.

3. 表示意图的使用：

   I asked her to give me the key. (to +v.)

   I asked her for the key. (for +n.)

4. Motive/Reason:

   I came here to talk to you.  to talk，表示意图；to you表示接受者；

5. Telling the time:

   Let's meet at ten to nine.

6. Distance:

   It's about 10 km from my home to your home.

7. Comparing:

   I prefer apples to bananas.

8. Destinations:

   We are going to France.

9. Transferring/ give/ send/ sell

   I sent it to her yesterday.

10. Beneficial/ detrimental 

    Drinking water is good for you.

11. Period of time

    I lived in Spain for a few years.

12. Schedule/ arrangement

    I have made an appointment for 4th May.

13. Motive/ reason (with n.)

    I went to the shop for milk.

14. Doing something to help someone

    Can I carry that for you?

15. Function (with -ing, verb)

    Wine is made for drinking.
